Follow a dolphin

Dolphins are cetaceans, a group of marine mammals that also includes whales and porpoises. With more than 90 species worldwide, cetaceans play a crucial role in maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems as top predators and key nutrient providers.

Greek waters host 10 species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. In the Gulf of Thermaikos, our research has documented three dolphin species so far. Your support helps us better understand the challenges these animals face and advance science-based conservation efforts in the Mediterranean.

By donating 50€ and naming a dolphin you actively contribute to their protection. After your donation, you can name one of the dolphins in our species catalogue (Photo-Identification) by iSea during its field research in Thermaikos Gulf. This way, you will learn more about the species you chose and receive updates for the individual you named if iSea manages to record it again.

Why name a dolphin?

Dolphins are known worldwide for their curious characteristics and flamboyant nature, but the health of their populations is at risk and need your help. By naming one, you contribute to:

  • iSea’s research with the aim to significantly increase our knowledge of their ecology and dynamics.
  • their protection based on the scientific data and knowledge gained from research.
  • understanding the threats they face with the aim to raise awareness and promote solutions
