Name a Shark or a Ray

Did you know that 31 species of sharks and 25 species of rays exist in Greek seas? All of them are an integral part of marine biodiversity, playing a crucial role in maintaining the health and balance of the marine environment. However, half of the species are at risk of extinction!!!

By donating 50€ and above and naming a shark or a ray you actively contribute to their protection.

After your donation, you can name one of the sharks or rays tagged (with spaggeti tags) by iSea during its field research in Amvrakikos Gulf. This way, you will learn more about the species you chose and receive updates for the individual you named if iSea manages to record it again.

Why to name a shark or a ray?

Sharks and rays are fascinating and misunderstood creatures. By naming one, you contribute to:

  • Safely release 1605 bycaught sharks and rays
  • Tag 397 sharks and rays
  • Modify 22 fishing boats, enabling fishers to safely release sharks and rays that are accidentally caught
  • Give a second chance at survival to 15 ray eggs of threatened species that were accidentally caught in fishing nets
  • For the first time in Greece, incorporate shark and ray data into the designation of a Marine Protected Area, the new National Marine Park of the Ionian Sea

Name a ray or a shark and support the research and protection of its species!
