PROSFERO

Procter & Gamble and AB Vassilopoulos are joining forces with the environmental organisation iSea, taking on a significant initiative to protect Greece’s marine environment. As part of this program, the two companies are collaborating to strengthen efforts for cleaning Greek seas and coasts, helping to reduce waste and preserve the natural beauty of our beaches.

With a commitment to a more sustainable future, this joint effort aims to mobiliσe the public and raise awareness about environmental protection. Through organized actions and partnerships with local communities and volunteers, the project seeks to achieve clean seas for everyone.

 

The main objectives of the project are:

Since 2018 in the context of Prosfero project, 308 cleanups have been implemented, as well as 36 environmental education and awareness-raising actions in schools and special education centers educating 2,400 children on marine environmental protection issues. At the same time, we have implemented 16 informative events, and managed to inform 2,221 citizens about marine litter pollution. In total we have removed more than 94 tons of marine litter.

 

In 2024, and so far, 14 beach cleanups and 7 underwater cleanups have been implemented in North and Central Euboea, Attica, Kasos, Makronisos, Atokos islet, Nestos and Chalkidiki. Specifically, 783 volunteers participated in the cleanups and 962 kg of marine litter have been removed. 
Ecology important areas:

These selected areas are important areas for biodiversity and should also be protected and well preserved. Although, one of the main threats these areas face is pollution, while plastic pollution is rapidly increasing and is considered a serious threat to these ecosystems.

These areas are landmarks, both for their connection with historical events in Greece, and for the unique landscapes and natural beauty that distinguish them.
