10 years iSea
The iSea team celebrated 10 years of action with a week full of informative events and clean-ups for the people of Thessaloniki!
From March 9 to 15, we visited various locations across the city in a festive spirit, aiming to raise public awareness about the aquatic ecosystems, their rich biodiversity, some of the most critical issues they face, as well as the National Action Plan.
Throughout the week, we informed more than 800 of people, who also had the opportunity to meet the iSea team and learn more about our work, the experiences of our members, and the projects we implement.
At the same time, we organized four large-scale clean-up actions—one underwater and three coastal—in different areas and municipalities of the city. With the participation of 260 volunteers, we successfully removed more than 1,300 kilos of marine litter!
Our activities were held under the auspices of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, with the support of the Municipality of Kalamaria and the Municipality of Delta, and in collaboration with numerous organisations and local partners, including the Greek Biotope-Wetland Centre, Blue Marine Foundation, WWF Greece, Greenpeace Greece, the Hellenic Ornithological Society, Callisto, Eurobank, Sea World Scuba Diving Center, MoveIt NGO, Thess-Diktio, Filoi Neas Paralias, OK!Thess, YMCA Thessaloniki (ΧΑΝΘ), United Societies of Balkans (USB), the Alumni Association of the Thessaloniki Youth City Council, SolidarityNow, the Environmental Team of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Youth Center of Chalastra, the Women’s Association of the Municipality of Delta, the Hellenic Red Cross, Mandoulides Schools, the 1st General High School of Kalamaria, and the 8th General High School of Kalamaria.
Thank you for being part of this special milestone as we celebrated 10 years of action and impact!
