Angeliki Chytoulaki is 33 years old and a mother of two. She lives in Heraklia, Kavala and together with her husband, are working on their coastal boat since 2016.

“My profession was beautician. I had no idea what it meant to work at sea before I met my husband. I started learning about it slowly and loving it. Over time, I learned how to drive the boat, how to cast the nets, but also how to sew them, how to fish and, separate the fish. At some point we decided to get a bigger boat. I felt proud of myself when my husband told me he relies on my help to take this step”.

“The other captains encouraged me to keep going”.

“I’ve had a lot of hard times working at sea, but what I’ll never forget is when we were suddenly surrounded by a bilge and we had to cut the nets and leave to save ourselves. Luckily, we got back in time”.
