
GREEN WATERS: Τhe Network for life in the sea
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to a healthy ocean, a goal placed in the center of the global sustainable development agenda and sets goals to address the overexploitation of natural resources, climate change and pollution. The balance between nature and simultaneous sustainable development remains critical. However, sometimes, these relationships remain tense. In order to eliminate the difficulties in achieving sustainable development, we need knowledge and unity as main tools.
In this context, the GREEN WATERS Network aims to strengthen the awareness and involvement of volunteers and organizations dealing with the marine environment, through collaborations and networking of the organizations.

Thessaloniki of "Green Waters"
Like many coastal cities around the world, Thessaloniki has invested in improving its maritime cultural heritage and rich history, but often the relations between citizens and the marine environment are not harmonious. Human activity often leads to environmental degradation (eg human waste, noise pollution in wetlands).
In addition, the sea often becomes a field of accidents because water safety rules are not followed. "Green Waters" was born with the vision of creating a network that governs the goals of sustainability and well-being of citizens living in the wider area of Thermaikos Gulf.
