Living Nature, Living Place: Discussing the Lemnos of Tomorrow
An open event of the “Reviving Lemnos” Project
Friday, 23 October, in Romanou – The “Reviving Lemnos” project meets the local community and opens a dialogue about the future of northeastern Lemnos.
How do we envision the Lemnos island of tomorrow? How can we protect and showcase the island’s unique natural wealth while ensuring a sustainable future for its people and local activities?
With these questions at its heart, the ”Reviving Lemnos” project invites residents, local organisations and everyone who loves Lemnos to attend the open event “The Lemnos of tommorrow – Living Nature, Living Place”, which will take place on Friday, 23 October 2026, from 18:00-20:00, at the Romanou Cultural Association Hall.
The event offers an opportunity to learn more about the “Reviving Lemnos” project, an important initiative dedicated to restoring and protecting the valuable natural ecosystems of Northeastern Lemnos.
From wetlands ans coastal areas to islets and the sea, the project aims to help restore the island’s natural environment, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and create opportunities for a more sustainable future.
During the event, the “Reviving Lemnos” team, with representatives from the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the Environmental Organisation iSea and the Municipality of Lemnos, will present the key activities planned and carried out in the area, as well as their expected benefits for the natural environment and the local community.
Above all, however, the event is an invitation to discussion and the exchange of ideas. Residents and local organisations will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their thoughts and suggestions, and contribute to shaping a shared vision for the future of the area.
Because protecting nature is closely connected to the island’s identity, traditions, local livelihoods and its future.
The event will conclude with refreshments of traditional products from Lemnos, offering an opportunity for a more informal conversation and getting to know one another.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome!
