In a new collaboration of iSea with the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR) and the Association Toulipa Gulimi, interesting data emerged about the feeding habits of Dalatias licha (Kitefin shark) in the Greek seas.
A dead stranded Kitefin shark individual found in the Laconic Gulf by members of the Association Toulipa Gulimi. The Association informed iSea and in collaboration with HCMR the stomach of the individual was collected in order to analyze the content. The main trophic items found were the species Histioteuthis bonnellii and Aristaeomorpha foliacea. This is the first time that these two species of shrimp are identified as trophic items of the Kitefin shark.
