Alexandros Kaminas

Born in Athens 1999. Alexander is currently studying for his Bachelor’s degree in Marine science at the University of the Aegean. His academic interests include marine biology and ecology, Taxonomy of tropical and Mediterranean fish as well as sample and data analysis techniques in a laboratory and Computer environment. He holds basic skills in data management software like ARCGis, SNAP(remote sensing), R(language) and SPSS. Furthermore, he is also competent in the use of modeling software such as ViSsim and Mathematica. Alexander is proficient in three languages: Greek (mother tongue), English and French as well as having a basic understanding of written German. As a student, he took part in the student conference of science and technology ACSTAC and the annual math and logical thinking competition (semifinals) at the Anatolia college. As a college student, Alexander participated in iSea’s citizen science project 2018 as well as the “Drone Mapping and Satellite Testing for Marine Plastic on the Aegean Sea” project, which was carried out by the University of the Aegean’s Remote sensing group. He holds a Diver’s certificate (CMAS First star) and he is a member of the student diving club “Triton”. He is participating in two citizen science projects of iSea; Is it Alien to you? Share it!!! and Sharks and Rays in Greece and Cyprus collecting data for alien fish and rays respectively.
