Letter to the competent Greek ministries and authorities regarding the illegal fishing and trade of elasmobranchs

Following our recent scientific publication and the consequent press release, iSea and the University of Patras sent a letter to the Ministries of Environment and Energy, of Rural Development and Food and to the Bureau of Fisheries Control for bringing into their attention the issue of illegal fishing and trade of sharks and rays in Greece.

More specifically, we communicated briefly the results of our latest work ¨Assessing multiple sources of data to detect illegal fishing, trade and mislabelling of elasmobranchs in Greek markets¨ and further suggested specific actions and measures that will safeguard the future of elasmobranchs in the Greek waters.
