New publication on the assessment of consumer attitudes towards marine non-indigenous fish species: A case study from Greece.

Non-indigenous fish species continue to spread into the Mediterranean Sea, changing species assemblages and reshaping marine ecosystems. The promotion of edible alien species through a market-based approach has been proposed as a measure to limit their spread and the negative effects they may have on local habitats, and also provide economic revenues to fishers. Press Release: Prosfero Attica- Salamina

In the context of “Prosfero” project, a common venture between iSea, P&G and AB Vasilopoulos for cleaner greek coasts and beaches. The environmental organization iSea will take action in Attica and Salamina from the 30th of September until the 7th of October. The actions will begin with an opening event in each area, in order to inform the public about the pollution of the sea and also the project’s goals. Afterwards, coastal and underwater clean-ups will be held, in order to remove aquatic litter.

Stable steps towards solving the issue of mussel farming…

Following the invitation of iSea, the Deputy Minister of the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, Giorgos Amiras, visited Chalastra, accompanied by the Office Director of the Prime Minister in Thessaloniki Maria Antoniou, representatives of N.E.C.C.A, the Municipality of Delta and the local associations of mussel farmers. The Deputy Minister was informed about the persistent issue of mussel farming waste, the actions that have been carried out, as well as the next steps toward solving the issue.
