PRESS RELEASE
Prosfero project returns to Volos!
Once again, we continue our efforts to keep our seas and coastlines cleaner, as the “Prosfero” Project returns to the Pagasetic Gulf and Volos after three years. Following the summer season and the increased pressure on our beaches, we are back to make a difference. The project is a joint initiative by Procter & Gamble and AB Vassilopoulos, with iSea carrying out a series of beach and underwater clean-up activities in the area from 17 to 23 October.
The activities will kick off with an informative event to raise public awareness of marine pollution and the programme's objectives. This will be followed by volunteer clean-up activities on local beaches and at the Volos fishing harbour, aiming to remove marine litter from the shorelines and seabeds of these areas.
The activities that will take place are as follows:
- Informative event on marine litter and its impacts at Agios Nikolaos Square (360395, 22.948883), on Saturday, 17 October 2026, from 18:00 to 20:00.
- Beach clean-up at Anavros Beach, Volos (350293, 22.962790), on Sunday, 18 October 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.
- Beach clean-up at Kala Nera Beach (304520, 23.121589), on Monday, 19 October 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.

- Beach clean-up at Alykes Beach, Nees Pagases (325151, 22.927348), on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.
- Beach clean-up at Nea Anchialos Beach (271986, 22.818236), on Thursday, 22 October 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.
- Beach clean-up at Agria Beach, Volos (before Varela) (339552, 23.005066), on Friday, 23 October 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.
Since May 2018, a total of 342 clean-up activities have been carried out, including 192 beach and 150 underwater clean-ups, during which more than 99 tonnes of litter have been collected and removed, thanks to the invaluable contribution of volunteers and divers. As part of this effort, we have also organised 26 informative events, informing more than 6650 citizens about marine pollution and the issue of marine litter in Greece, as well as best practices for preventing and reducing waste in their daily lives.
We would be delighted to have you join us in these activities, helping to protect your local environment and highlighting the importance of active participation in marine conservation.
