PRESS RELEASE

“Screening of the acclaimed documentary OCEAN with David Attenborough”

The environmental organisation iSea in collaboration with the Municipality of Lemnos and the Hellenic Ornithological Society are inviting you to the screening of the international documentary film “OCEAN with David Attenborough”. The screening has been organized as part of the Revive Our Ocean initiative.

The screening will take place on Thursday, July 16th at 21:00, at the Public Cinematheatre “Maroula” in Myrina, Lemnos, in collaboration with the “Reviving Lemnos” project which aims to restore the environmental conditions of the marine and coastal ecosystems of Eastern Lemnos, strengthen their resilience to the climate change, and promote the sustainable development of the local community.

Find more information about the project here.

“Ocean with David Attenborough” sends a hopeful message for the sustainability of marine environments. The film features the unique beauty of the underwater world, the threats and challenges that it faces and all the success stories of how nature can recover when it’s been protected effectively.

The screening will be opened with a welcome adress byt the Mayor of Lemnos, Ms. Eleonora Georga. Welcome remarks will also be delivered by the environmental organisation iSea and the Hellenic Ornithological Society, lead partners of the “Reviving Lemnos” project.

The film will be screened in English with Greek subtitles. Admission is free of charge and attendance will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to venue capacity.

The event forms part of the national effort to raise awareness of the importance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and of the international 30×30 target — the protection of 30% of the world's oceans by 2030. The screening is organised within the framework of the nationwide initiative Revive Our Ocean Greece, coordinated by the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF), under the auspices of the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA) and National Geographic Pristine Seas, with the support of the Athina I. Martinou Foundation, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Costas M. Lemos Foundation, and the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center. Media sponsorship is provided by ERT.
