iSea in coastal cleanup in Karambournaki, Thessaloniki

The coastal cleanup of Karambournaki in Thessaloniki was successfully completed on Thursday 25th of May at 9:30 am.

The coastal cleanup was an initiative of the volunteer citizen group “My City, Me !! I make it beautiful. AND MY LIFE! “, with the participation of iSea, PROTEKTA Stavroupolis-Pavlos Mela-Kordelio-Evosmos, Epomea Pilea-ChortiatisArmenizo sailing for people with disabilities in NTH, 1st Primary School of Kalamaria and the support of Municipality of Kalamaria and the Municipality of Thessaloniki.  Read more “iSea in coastal cleanup in Karambournaki, Thessaloniki”

Statement on the recurring incidents of shark fishing and…

iSea would like to express its deep concerns following the recurring shark fishing and display incidents that are published in electronic media and social platforms throughout Greece. Sadly, the above publications contribute to an already grave situation, in which rare and threatened marine and terrestrial species face unreasonable and irrational human violence. Unfortunately, the incidents are more than many, such as the wide publicized poaching of the threatened chamois Rupicapra rupicapra in mountainous Pindos, the deliberate killing of Mediterranean monk seal with a shot gun and the decapitations of loggerhead sea turtles in the Cyclades, and the strandings of dead dolphins, bearing wounds irrefutably caused by sharp instruments.  Read more “Statement on the recurring incidents of shark fishing and their display in Greece”

Results report of the action “Home sweet…beach, keep it…

ISea, in the framework of the “Home sweet…beach, keep it clean!!!” program, has organized more than 15 cleanups in various places of Greece. An important part of the effort was conducted within the limits of the Axios Delta National Park. The high amount of litter totally collected was particularly worrying as it was exceeding 100 kg in 100m.
